Statement from Complete Children’s Health

Recent discussions online have suggested a link between paracetamol use and autism. Understandably, this has caused concern for many parents.

We want to reassure families that in Australia, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims. Paracetamol is one of the most commonly used medicines for children worldwide and, when used as directed, is considered safe and effective.

All leading health bodies – including the World Health Organisation, the Therapeutic Goods Administration, and the Australian Paediatric Society – continue to support its appropriate use. Research to date does not demonstrate a causal link between paracetamol and autism.

At Complete Children’s Health, our priority is the wellbeing of children and families. We encourage parents to follow medical guidance, use paracetamol only as recommended, and seek professional advice if they have any concerns.

Misinformation can cause unnecessary worry. We urge families to rely on credible, independent medical advice rather than unverified reports online.

If you have questions about your child’s health, please speak directly with your GP or paediatrician. Together, we can make safe, informed choices for our children.
